This is Occupy Earth page as a placeholder for the occupyearth.org website under construction due to launch later this year.
To save ourselves we must establish a World Federation, by and for people and planet.
This site will be the roadmap. The "how do we get there" from here.
Occupy Earth is a movement based on the tradition of Civil Resistance.
We have become a global society. Sometimes for better, sometimes worse. But given that our biggest problems are now global, we also have a problem of scale. Our issues are global but our government institutions are not. We attempt to deal with global issues with our existing institutions - but it's akin to trying to knock down a concrete wall with a carpenter’s hammer. It’s the right tool but at the wrong scale. A sledgehammer will work. The carpenter hammer will never work. It will barely make a dent. It is, put simply, impossible to effectively deal with global problems without global governance.
Einstein saw this right away (on the war problem) once we released the power of the atom. He knew that there is no way that nation-states can solve the problem of nuclear war. It’s the scale problem. Global problems can only be solved with (effective) global institutions. This scale issue applies to all global problems including the climate crisis and the impending AI disaster.
So we have these global, existential problems - and who’s going to save us? Nobody is going to save us. Our institutions are not going to save us. Governments have known about these problems for decades. They are not going to save us. NGOs, not-for-profits, and charities are not big enough, and not powerful enough to save us. Corporations? That’s not what they do, even the good ones.
And I think we all know this. In our heart of hearts, we already know that our current institutions cannot save us.
But there is a way to save ourselves. The only way we save ourselves is by working together.
The good news is that it may be easier than you think. Still very, very hard, granted—but very, very far from impossible. We have dozens of examples from the last 50 years of much bigger changes. And, in every case, it was people creating the change through civil resistance!
It's never really been tried on a global scale, but then we've never really had such massive global problems. And recent research polling suggests that the world is ready!
... focused on global issues like climate change significantly increase public support and lead overwhelming majorities worldwide to favor a global government."

We don't need to be on the eve of destruction. It's a choice.
